Part of a continuining project of mine...Ballet: Behind the Scenes. It focuses on the dancers practice, when there is a look of intense concentration on their faces (and nerves?) and a casual juxtaposition of 'costume' (warm-up clothes) - I'm trying to capture a sense of hard work...because they make it look so easy in the actual performances, it is easy to forget what they have done to get to this point. This photo reminds me of Mario Testino's shot of Darcey Bussel backstage at the Royal Opera House, just before a performance.
This is Saori Ishiyama of the Vienna Festival Ballet warming up before a spectacular performance of Swan Lake. I think that's her name anyway, I'm using the cast list and guesswork.... COPYRIGHT NOTICE My photography is not to be used without my exclusive written permission.
